Jaidyn's "Ozymandias" Prewriting

  1. Woah I love how you color coded your annotations, the organization is awesome! Also, I really respect how you marked the rhyme scheme since that is something that I never remember to do. I also think that your observation of how line 8 of the poem seems out of place and functions to connect the two halves of the poem is very interesting: I was also confused by the purpose that this line served, and I think it could lead to some very interesting discoveries!

  2. The shift of the speaker is very interesting and should be considered when writing about this poem. Shelley was a traveler and he was a well read man, so is he the traveler here, did he hear about his from someone else? So many questions that need to be answered, and this one is important in answering when fully understanding this. I think Percy is the traveler who went to the "antique land".

  3. I went back and looked at lines 6, 7, and 12 as you suggested to find a deeper meaning. I've noticed our class hasn't really emphasized the invisible fourth character in the poem: the sculptor, who is clearly talented and perceptive of the cold King of Kings.
